Pediatric Dietitian and Child Nutrition Specialist Maidenhead

Gemma Ransome – Paediatric Dietitian BSc RD
I am a SOS trained feeding specialist and an experienced registered Dietitian specialising in children’s nutrition.

Dietitians are qualified and regulated health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems. I use the most up to date public health and scientific research on food health and disease and translate this into practical guidance to enable my clients to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.

About me

I studied in Leeds and graduated with a BSc in Medical Sciences, followed by a Postgraduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and British Dietetic Association and am a member of the paediatric and ARFID specialist group. I have completed master’s modules in behaviour change and clinical dietetics for infants and children. In addition, I have postgraduate training in breastfeeding, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and I am trained in the SOS approach to feeding.

I have worked in nutrition for 14 years in leading NHS teaching hospitals, such as Manchester Children’s Hospital, and in the private sector at the Harley Street Clinic in London. For the past two years I have specialised in allergy and supporting children with complex feeding problems such as Paediatric Feeding Disorder and ARFID.

As a mother of three young children, I know only too well the difficulties of providing children with a healthy diet whilst juggling the pressures of a busy family life. My aim is to compassionately help my clients foster a positive relationship with food to improve their growth, development and general health and wellbeing.

I support families by offering virtual or in person appointments at The Croft Clinic in Cookham to help children in the following areas:

  • Growth faltering

  • Weight management and healthy eating

  • Picky/ Selective eating and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

  • Allergy and intolerance

  • Coeliac Disease

  • Gastrointestinal conditions including constipation and loose bowel motions

  • Iron deficiency anaemia

  • Vegetarian and vegan diets
